There is an interesting story to the Cambodia casinos that reside just over the dividing line from next door Thailand, in which gambling den gaming is not legal. Eight gambling dens are situated in a generally small location in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia gambling dens is in a prime area, a three to four hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the two largest gambling locations in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a thriving business with Thai laborers and tourists from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The phenomenal capital gained from the gambling dens ranges from $7.5 million to more than 12.5 million, and there are a few controls constraints for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is presumed to be mainly Thai; still, investment sources are cryptic. The borders are ceremoniously open from 0900 to 17:00, and even though visas are supposedly necessary to pass, there are means around this, as is accurate of most borders.

The 1st Cambodia gambling dens opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were required to close in 1998, leaving just a single casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. There are 150 slots and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and 104 one armed bandits and 68 tables at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights three hundred slots and 70 tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slots and 96 table games, including eighty seven baccarat (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slots and 66 of the familiar gaming tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. An additional of the eight gambling halls in Poipet, also a part of a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six one armed bandits and 97 games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an all-inclusive resort and hotel complex that contains a number of luxuries on top of the gambling hall, which provides 10,000 square feet of one hundred and thirty slot machines and eighty eight tables.
