Cambodia Gambling Dens
There is an appealing history to the Cambodia casinos that sit just across the dividing line from neighboring Thailand, in which gambling hall gaming is against the law. Eight gambling halls are established in a relatively tiny location in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia casinos is in a prime spot, a three to four hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 biggest gambling centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a thriving business with Thai blue-collar workers and tourists from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The amazing income gained from the gambling dens ranges from seven and a half million dollars to more than twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a few controls constraints for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is required to be mainly Thai; however, investment sources are ambiguous. The borders are officially open from 0900 to 17:00, and even though visas are supposedly required to pass, there are methods around this, as is true of most border crossings.
The initial Cambodia gambling halls opened in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving just 1 casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored barge casino, contains one hundred and fifty one armed bandits and 60 table games. The Naga gambling hall never closes with 42 tables of mini-baccarat, 4 tables of twenty-one, 10 of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The original gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown before long followed. A total of 150 slot machines and 5 tables at the Golden Crown and 104 one armed bandits and 68 gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights 300 one armed bandits and seventy gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 one armed bandits and ninety six gaming tables, including eighty seven baccarat chemin de fer (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slot machines and 66 of the normal gaming tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the 8 gambling halls in Poipet, again a part of a hotel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machine games and 97 casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of a multinational resort and hotel building that highlights a number of conveniences in addition to the gambling hall, which has 10,000 square feet of one hundred and thirty slot machine games and 88 tables.
